Why Choose Us Over
Those Other Guys?

We are a medium sized dive center capable of offering more personal service to our divers.

Our staff is made up of Marine Biologists, Zoologogists and local scientists, that are also NAUI Instructors and Divemasters.

We dive every day with our clients making every effort to give you a quality service at affordable prices, but the real reason is we just love to dive!

We usually employ a number of extra instructors through the summer months so that we can cope with the increased demand placed upon us at that time of year. Here again we take the time to ensure that the people working with us understand that your safety and enjoyment are our First Priority.

It is important to us that the Tour Leaders have experience and knowledge of the local marine species and are capable of applying the same care and attention to detail when it comes to customer care and satisfaction.

Meet Our SeaStar Adventures Staff

Wes Dwight

Wes Dwight

Tour Director & Instructor

An unforgettable window to a world of underwater wonder was opened for me as a child in the lakes of Minnesota. And it's never closed. From snorkeling in fresh water lakes, teaching swimming classes, and spending as much time in the water as I could, eventually, I was certified as an open water diver and methodically progressed to become a scuba instructor. Not long after, I became certified as a Red Cross Instructor as well.

Through several years of teaching and leading tours in San Diego, it's been my privilege to introduce people to the joys of snorkeling & scuba, and the marvels of our local marine ecology. Every time I hear squeals of delight resonating through snorkels and regulators as people view their first garibaldi, peaceful & graceful leopard shark, sand-camouflaged stingray, or a playful sea lion, a smile comes to me, because I know those guests will walk away with a lifetime memory and a greater appreciation of our oceans and the life within.

Justin Kantor

Justin 'Tito' Kantor

Instructor & Tour Leader

Justin grew up in Boulder, CO and recieved his Zoology Degree at Colorado State University. After college he began his career of working in the ocean starting at a marine science camp in the Florida Keys, then to another marine science camp on Catalina Island. After his certifications as both a NAUI and PADI instructor and being a repair tech of SCUBA gear he moved to Hawaii and gained experience as an instructor & divemaster. Now back in California, he's out here for some fun.

Justin Smith

Dive Master & Tour Leader

Justin grew up in northern California, and grew up exploring the forests, lakes and streams of the Sierra Nevada Foothills and watching nature shows on TV.  In 2002 he moved to San Diego to attend UCSD.  As soon as he lived near the ocean, Justin immediately signed up for a SCUBA course.  While at UCSD he founded the Snorkel Club at UCSD and was an active member of the Seadeucers Dive club.

He also worked as a volunteer marine biology researcher in Australia.  In 2006 he graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Molecular biology and soon after trained to become a divemaster.

Justin is very passionate about biology and science and plans to attend graduate school in the future.

Scout

Scout

Tour Mascot &
Lobster Retriever Wannabe
Native to California (for 2 years now), Scout has grown up an "Ocean Enthusiast"! While not able to participate in the Snorkeling and Scuba tours, Scout alway likes to see us off on our tours and greet us when we return. Occasionally, Scout will tag along when we're at the beach. One of the most friendly pups you ever meet. Always willing to accept any part of that lunch you cant finish (especially the cookie) and in return will let you rub his tummy.
